Adventure 1

Here is another photo that I took of Bea during our first official "shoot" - I like the backdrop with the fairy lights :)

the first adventure

I found this photo that I took on my first shoot with Bea. It was the middle of summer and the shadows and light that the trees made were so, so pretty.

Painting form :)

Here is the painted version of my take on a photo of Bea - of course, not exactly a complete Bea look-alike, but I quite enjoyed the shadows etc :)
I also changed it a litttttttttttle bit in art yesterday before mounting it so it's a tiny bit different.. What can I say? I can't help myself!

I got my L's this afternoon! About time, really.. :)

Folio 2: drawing form

As part of my art folio, I decided to draw one of the photos that I had taken of Bea using film.. So, I drew it last night :) It took me around an hour and a half to complete - but, of course, I couldn't help myself and changed things and so on. So, this scan may be slightly different from how it turned out.. But I'm still happy with it :) Even though it doesn't really look like Bea..

More ideas on their way for my next folio.. :)

Sarah and Bea's Photographic Adventures: No. 4

A few days ago, I got the photos that I took of Bea developed! They were taken on an old film camera - a Pentax, I believe ... Working with these cameras really is my favourite way to take photos and I am particularly happy with they way that this "adventure" has turned out :)

Sarah and Bea's Photographic Adventures: No. 4

That's right - a new adventure!
As part of my folio for art, I photographed Bea at school in the gardens near the art rooms :) As usual, she brought a pretty dress and I did her up and we took a lot of photos - first on an analogue camera with colour film and then a few photos on a basic digital camera. Here's my favourite so far..

Hmm.. unedited and I'm thinking I may need to have a play around with light and colours..

Last Saturday, I took part in The 300 Project with the Salvo's :) It was pretty cool :) I looked after little kids and made cookies and I feel like I did something good! There was a night thing for it as well so there were performances - like by a guy from Melbourne called Ben Abraham :) He was great and you should definitely have a listen to his music.

My French girl from Lyon is coming next term! How exciting is that?!

Sarah and Bea's Photographic Adventures: No. 3

Last night, Bea came over and we watched Titanic, which was lovely. And intensely sad.
It got a bit late but, nevertheless, I did her makeup a bit and we went outside to take photos - I'd been looking forward to taking photos at night to see what happens when the flash goes off. The only bad thing is you can't tell what you're taking photos of until you've taken them.. which can be a bit amusing.
So, we had this idea to throw leaves. Which turned out amazing. We seem to have a lot of gorgeous autumn leaves out the front of my house, so, Bea sat in them and we started throwing them and.. you shall see the effect :)

I got Skype last night, as well! So I can speak to my friend who lives in Singapore! We spoke to her and it was a bit sad :( especially when we had to hang up..

Yesterday, I bought a few new things from American Apparel - my first American Apparel experience (haha). I bought a lovely checked, black and white high-waisted skirt, a green dress that crosses at the back and some socks and tights! I love frilly socks and long socks at the moment. So easy to obsess over, i tell you!

Lots of ideas of art. Shall keep you posted..

Sarah and Bea's Photographic Adventures: No. 2

Last sunday, the dear Bea came over and allowed me to, once again, make her up, do her hair and put her in a pretty dress - and then photograph her :) This time, her hair was straight and we used 3 different dresses - and it was in my back garden where we have a water feature and a cute chair-thing.
We have a couple of bridesmaid dresses from when my sisters were 10 and 12 - big, pink, lacy dresses with tulle underneath - and, of course, I couldn't help myself.. Even though it was a bit small - okay, that's an understatement - it still looked real pretty on!
I've left most of the photos as is, but, for a couple, I've made them a bit more antique-y - almost sepia?
I also had my first practice SAC for revs today - eeeepp scary.. but it was better than I expected :) which could be a bad thing..? I'm trying not to keep my hopes up about it!

P.S I'm officially seeing Regina in concert on 30th April! :) :)

Oh, Bailey...

My sister and I had a lovely sleep in this morning (apart from the non-existent blinds in her bedroom meaning that the windows are covered with a sheet that doesn't exactly keep much sunlight out..) although, once again, I had to read some more of my book! I have ALMOST finished it! I have maybe ..20 pages to go? And, wow. Scandalous! Big twist at the end. I can tell you, I must have been sitting reading it over breakfast with quite a painful expression on my face - Cate kept looking at me and laughing :) I have the second book ready to read, so I'm all prepared!
So I had a good morning but later this afternoon I got home to find that cheeky, little Bailey (my Cavalier - remember? The little poser from my photos! haha) had run off and was nowhere to be found. You can only begin to imagine how I was feeling this afternoon! My brother and I looked for her for ages and we finally got a phone call - it turns out that Little Miss Cheeky had run off to the milk bar down the road! Thank goodness we found her!
I'm looking forward to watching Andy Roddick and Fernando Gonzalez tonight! It should be a good match! :)
Here are a few more photos of Bea from "Sarah and Bea's Photographic Adventures" :)

P.S I finished the book.. and have already got the 2nd one out! haha
And I've been watching a bit of Andy and Fernando.. good match! Andy just hit 3 aces in a row! Wowee.. Have I ever mentioned that he's one of my favourite tennis players?.. Well, he is :)

The market

This morning, I got up slightly earlier than usual - which isn't really all that early - to go to a local sunday market with a friend of mine. I haven't always been all that lucky when it comes to finding bargains and pretty pieces of clothing - my first and only buy was a brooch from a little, old lady - however, this morning we seemed to have some luck. Upon wandering through the stalls, my friend found a gorgeous, cropped, black blazer jacket - her very first buy at a market. We stopped at another stall where I found a dress - v-neck, blue with a floral pattern, above the knee with a tie and some elastic around the waist. 10 bucks! Bargain! I thought about it a bit whilst we wandered through the stalls and ended up going back to try it on over my clothing (really quite amusing) and buying it :) My first buy of clothing at a market! How exciting!
Whilst we looked through the rest of the stalls, I found some sheets of music that were yellowed and torn, sold for a dollar per sheet. By the time we got to the stall, the girl said I could have 5 sheets for a dollar! So... I bought them :) Of course, I didn't buy them for no purpose at all! Being deputy editor of the school magazine this year, I've been continually coming up with different ideas and inspiration for layout and design etc. - the old sheet music shall not go to waste! And, it turns out that it's from the opera, "Carmen"! :)
This afternoon, it was my sister's house warming, so my family and I were all in her new apartment celebrating over scones with jam and cream... only, my sister didn't seem to realise that the cream needed to be whipped... and all she had was a whisk! So, we sat with our scones coated with jam and asked eachother if we would like a "drip" of cream? :) Oh, Cate... the scones were good, though! Even though there weren't quite enough plates, knives, cups... :)
I have slowly worked through almost all of the photos I took of Bea! So, I will post some more - my favourites :)

Thanks again to Bea! You did an incredible job!

Sarah and Bea's Photographic Adventures

Yesterday, my friend, Bea, came over for a bit of a photo shoot, and with her, she brought a new dress that she had bought a day or two beforehand. I set up the makeup and additional accessories and then made her up and curled her hair with hot rollers.

We then walked to the park down the road...

...where I took several hundred photos of her under trees, hugging trees and so on. I was a bit anxious about using a digital camera as, with this particular digital camera, you don't have the option of fixing the focus, but, it turns out that using a digital camera wasn't as bad as I had thought.. :) I have been pleasantly surprised! :) I suppose the fact that I was able to take several hundred photos was a plus! Haha .. :)
So, this afternoon I uploaded the photos to my computer (yes, Bea, it does look like you stole my camera..) and have been busy lightening and darkening them and what not. I haven't changed them too much but have tried to bring out the colours and the warmth and give some a different feel to others. I won't upload too many of them as I haven't quite gone through them all but will give you a bit of an idea ...

Once I have been through them all, I'll upload some more :)
After yesterday, I'm pretty sure Bea and I have about a million ideas ready to be transformed into photographic magic :)
Thank you for being such an amazing model, Bea! (And for letting me post these photos...)
