Sarah and Bea's Photographic Adventures: No. 3

Last night, Bea came over and we watched Titanic, which was lovely. And intensely sad.
It got a bit late but, nevertheless, I did her makeup a bit and we went outside to take photos - I'd been looking forward to taking photos at night to see what happens when the flash goes off. The only bad thing is you can't tell what you're taking photos of until you've taken them.. which can be a bit amusing.
So, we had this idea to throw leaves. Which turned out amazing. We seem to have a lot of gorgeous autumn leaves out the front of my house, so, Bea sat in them and we started throwing them and.. you shall see the effect :)

I got Skype last night, as well! So I can speak to my friend who lives in Singapore! We spoke to her and it was a bit sad :( especially when we had to hang up..

Yesterday, I bought a few new things from American Apparel - my first American Apparel experience (haha). I bought a lovely checked, black and white high-waisted skirt, a green dress that crosses at the back and some socks and tights! I love frilly socks and long socks at the moment. So easy to obsess over, i tell you!

Lots of ideas of art. Shall keep you posted..

she & him

I have a new obsession:
She & Him are such a gorgeous, quirky band! Zooey Deschanel - yep, the actress (500 Days of Summer) - sings! Which you may have heard before if you've seen 500 Days of Summer.. And she's got a great voice :) And apparently plays piano.. and writes all the songs for She & Him herself!
I bought their two albums today and love, love, love them both. A lot :) Yep, my newest obsession..

Aside from that, I got a cute pair of tights today :) I suppose tights and socks are another of my obsessions of the moment - I can not get enough of frilly socks and cute tights. I found a pair of Leona Edmiston tights today - they're a sheer pink with spots all over. Gorgeous!

To the market

This morning I went to the market and had a bit of a look around
with a couple of girls from school - yes, including Bea :) And I
found a gorgeous jacket for $20! How good is that?! It's cropped
with buttons and a nice, dark purple colour. Plus, there was a
couple selling rolls of lace - and I mean big rolls with a lot of
lace! $5 per roll? Yes please! As you can tell, we couldn't help
ourselves and decided to buy two rolls - one pink and one
yellow :) What a bargain for pretty lace from the 50s! (Well,
that's what they told us..)

I am still trying to comprehend the death of the incredible
Alexander McQueen :( He was an amazing designer - a
revolutionary designer - with such an incredible eye for
fashion. :(

On a lighter note, however, Ron Pope is amazing so do
watch - he's playing his song "A Drop in the Ocean" -
probably his best song .. apart from"Seven English Girls" which I love!

P.S Guess what?! You'll never guess.. not. I have yet another idea for
art! Oh, it's going to be so vair pretty :) And I officially have the
prettiest setting for my Sleeping Beauty. Plus a dress. Get excited.. :)

The History of Revolutions

As you can tell, today I have spent most of the afternoon doing revs. It really is just about all I think about these days, or at least it's at the near top! I've been putting together my summary notes and have managed to get up to my seventh page - my, oh, my... But, at least I seem to be understanding it - or most of it at least.
So, I decided it was time for me to have a break.

I have so many ideas for the school magazine and I'm seeing the beginnings of it coming together in my head - the colours and some of the layout, anyway. I've had a couple of meetings this week and have another next week. How exciting?! I don't want to give too much away, but I'm liking it all, so far. I even read an article from a newspaper today and, whilst reading it, I had this sense of really, really wanting to somehow incorporate the author's style of writing into some of our own articles.
But, first things first: a colour pallet and fonts. :)

Marc Jacobs at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week '09 seems to clearly illustrate my idea of mixed textures in fashion - I love the hat, in particular.. and the top :)
I also love this dress and the shoes :)

Art.. exciting stuff :)

Alannah and Arabella

Alannah Hill is just about my most favourite designer EVER. Have I ever mentioned that? She's amazing - I love her use of colours and pretty textures like lace and tulle (my favourite materials) and just her overall incredible sense of fashion and design. I had a few vouchers to use recently and luckily she was having a sale! :) I bought a pair of gorgeous, long, black, patterned tights, a pair of knee-high, black socks with white spots on them and a pair of little ankle socks (that were more like short tights) - pink with a pretty cream pattern on them. I wore the last pair I mentioned for the first time the other day and they were toooo pretty :) I also bought a pretty little black and white singlet .. sigh :) I adore stripes at the moment..
Another of my favourite designers is Arabella Ramsay.. sigh :) Her designs and the pieces of clothing she puts together are so unique - there's something about them that's hard to describe .. maybe a little bit eccentric? But, so gorgeous! During a sale a couple of years ago, I bought a beautiful, blue, cropped jacket with big, white buttons and a pretty little collar. Stunning, I tell you.

I don't know about you, but I love this outfit - especially the short-sleeved leather jacket! AH! A pink leather jacket.. sighhhh :)

Andy won last night! :) And Federer and Hewitt are on tonight! Intense.. Federer really is adorable - don't you think? :)

P.S I found a beautiful dress today - black with a sweetheart neckline but also with little sleeves and a diamond cut out of the back with a little bow at the dip of the neckline.. and the skirt came out and made is so gorgeous. Ah, so beautiful.. I can see a formal dress ..
